Sheikh Najam TEP's Fees

What it costs to instruct me

I set out my charges before you decide whether to proceed, so that cost is never the surprise in a matter that is already complicated. Most work falls into one of three groups: a first consultation, notarial work on documents, and ongoing advisory work. Third-party charges such as government, embassy and courier fees are always separate, and I pass them on at cost.

Consultations

Every new matter starts with a consultation, whether it concerns a document, a structure or a dispute. It is charged in advance and covers up to one hour.

Initial consultation, up to one hour: £750, fixed, payable in advance
Remote consultation by video or telephone: £750, fixed, payable in advance
VAT: added to the fee @20%

Notarial work

Notarial fees depend on the document, the number of signatories and the country the document is going to. I quote a fixed fee once I have seen the papers.

Single document, standard notarisation: £150
Additional documents in the same appointment: £120
Bespoke notarial certificate: £250
Attendance at your office or home: £350
Urgent or same-day appointment: £225

Advisory work

Structuring, succession, probate and dispute work is charged by the hour, or at a fixed fee where the scope can be defined in advance. I will tell you which applies before any work starts.

Hourly rate: £750 per hour
Fixed fee: Agreed in advance where the scope is clearly defined
Payment on account: 50% of the total fee quoted

What is not included

The following are paid to third parties and appear separately on your invoice, at cost and without any mark-up:

- Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office apostille fees
- Embassy and consular legalisation fees
- Translation fees, where a document must be translated for the receiving country
- Courier and secure delivery charges
- Court, registry and filing fees

How you will be billed

Before I take on any matter I send a client care letter setting out the scope of the work, the basis of the charge, and what happens if the scope changes. Nothing is charged beyond that letter without your agreement in writing. For notarial appointments, payment is taken at the appointment unless we have agreed otherwise in advance.
