When I prepare your Will, I follow the STEP Code for Will Preparation in England and Wales.

England and Wales
STEP introduced its Code for Will Preparation in England and Wales to give clients peace of mind that their will preparer is doing the best possible job.
The Code sets a quality standard for will writing. It is a set of ethical principles and a framework for careful preparation, not a step-by-step procedure.
I prepare Wills in line with the Code. I explain my qualifications, charges and relevant tax implications. I take your instructions carefully, consider your circumstances and explain the features and effect of your Will. I provide you with a draft to review before signing.
For you, this means careful, precise advice and a well ordered process. I prepare your Will to a recognised professional standard, with your instructions and wishes at its centre.
Will writing is not officially regulated in England and Wales. The Code is not regulation. It is a set of principles that I follow as a STEP member.

I work openly and transparently, and I act with integrity. I gather the information needed to understand what matters to you and to prepare a Will that reflects your wishes.
A badly drafted Will can have consequences you did not intend, particularly for larger or cross-border estates. I encourage you to use a reputable and qualified practitioner.
A Will must be signed on paper with the required witnesses physically present.
STEP members in England and Wales are bound to follow the Code as a condition of membership. I am listed in STEP's online directory of members. You can search for my name there.
